The evolution of Wavelight

We all desire to reach our full potential, but how do we get there? Reaching our full potential is only possible by training in the most optimal way. With this goal in mind, Wavelight was developed as the ultimate training tool, allowing athletes of all levels to train optimally and reach their goals, even when no coach or trainer is present.

Wavelight has evolved a lot over the recent years, from our first product, to our now widely available Wavelight 3.0. Just like athletes, Wavelight keeps innovating to reach its full potential. Read on to explore the evolution of Wavelight and see how Wavelight can help you reach your potential.

Wavelight 1.0

The first ever production Wavelight was installed in 2020 at the FBK stadium located in Hengelo, The Netherlands. This system had 400 sequentially numbered lamps that had to be individually connected to a wire with 400 plugs on it (each for every meter of the track). These lamps were then bolted onto the drainage covers so they were permanently fitted in place. This way of installation made installing the Wavelight very time-consuming and was only available for permanent installations, since the system was too heavy to move around.

With the Wavelight 1.0 being very time-consuming to install, came the desire from our customers to have a more mobile and quicker-to-install system. For this reason, we decided to change the entire way we manufacture our products and created a brand new system with newly shaped lamps.

Wavelight 2.0

Wavelight 2.0 was born and featured new lamps (see image) these lamps were attached to the cable with a special hotmelt compound instead of individual plugs. The system was split up into 25 meter sections with each section containing 25 lamps (one for approximately every meter of the track). The sections would then be connected together to reach the desired length of the track. These 25-meter sections, or strings as we call them today, not only looked better but were also much more mobile and lighter.

The upgraded Wavelight 2.0 did not only come with redesigned lamps, it also came with new, brighter LEDs. Another innovative addition was the adaptive sensors in the lamps that adjust the brightness based on the amount of (sun)light it receives. This way using the system in bright sunlight is no issue since the LED’s brightness adapts to it.

With enhanced visibility and quicker installation, Wavelight is now suitable for both mobile and permanent installations on any track.

Wavelight 3.0

With the introduction of Wavelight 3.0 came our best product to date, especially when it comes to durability and overall quality. The Wavelight 3.0 is equipped with built-in wiring, replacing the hotmelted lamps, which drastically reduces wear and tear over time. This built-in wiring also enhances the waterproofness, achieving an IP67 rating.

The updated lamps now feature our Wavelight logo, to make it known that your track is equipped with Wavelight technology. Additionally, the lamps are made from a new material for optimal light distribution, resulting in a brighter and more even lighting effect.

The manufacturing of Wavelight 3.0 makes it possible to upscale our production process by reducing production time and increasing the total production output. This makes Wavelight even more widely available for both mobile and permanent installations.
